Who is responsible

This website and the tours it describes are operated by Corporación Turística del Bosque Nuboso S.A., cédula jurídica 3-101-504200, Monteverde, Puntarenas, Costa Rica, trading as The Original Canopy Tour. That company is the data controller for the purposes of this policy.

What this website collects

This website is a static site: it has no contact forms, no user accounts and no newsletter sign-up, so there is nowhere here for you to submit personal information.

Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) for security and troubleshooting purposes, as is normal for any website.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read. To do that, Google sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your approximate location (city or country level, derived from your IP address), and your device and browser type.

We look at this information in aggregate, to improve the site. We do not use it to try to identify you individually, and we do not use it for advertising.

Google processes this data as our service provider and may do so on servers outside Costa Rica. You can prevent it by blocking cookies in your browser settings, by using your browser's private mode, or by installing Google's own Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

We do not use advertising or social-media tracking pixels.

Bookings and payments

When you choose to book, the reservation and payment flow is provided by Flora Plus, our booking platform. The information you enter there — name, contact details, party size, payment details — is submitted to Flora Plus and processed under its own terms and privacy policy, not on this website.

We receive the reservation details we need in order to run your tour: who is coming, when, and how to reach you. We use that information to operate and confirm your tour, and to comply with our legal and accounting obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.

Third-party links

This site links to third-party services, including Google Maps, TripAdvisor, GetYourGuide, Instagram and Facebook. Once you follow one of those links, the privacy practices of that service apply. We do not control them.

The booking widget is served by Flora Plus, and our analytics are served by Google. Their own privacy policies govern what they do with the data they receive.

Photography during tours

Our guides may take photographs of guests during the tour, which we may offer to you and may use to promote our tours. If you prefer not to be photographed, or you would like an image of you removed from our channels, tell your guide or write to us and we will honour the request.

Your rights

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Costa Rican data protection law applies to how we handle personal data.

Children

Our tours are open to guests from five years of age, and reservations for minors are made by a parent or guardian. This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our website or operations change. The effective date below always reflects the current version.
